THE WHITE CHAIR
SYNOPSIS

“THE WHITE CHAIR” (aka TWC) is a story (based on actual events) about “CJ” an Army Ranger Veteran inflicted with the torment brought on by Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).  CJ was injured during his 3rd and final deployment to Iraq when his team’s Humvee was hit with an IED, leaving two friends dead, many others injured and severe damage to his left eye.
Having experienced the most perilous war conditions imaginable, CJ’s mind struggles with adapting to “normal” life back home. The pills prescribed by his doctors and the bottles of alcohol only seem to intensify his pain and confusion.  This year, on the day of his friends dying, CJ will have a full psychotic break and his soul will journey to the other side. Will he make it back when it’s all over?

Why this story now?

According to the United States Department of Veterans Affairs up to 30% of veterans deployed in Iraq, Afghanistan or Vietnam will be diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in their lifetime.  Unsuccessfully treated PTSD is a serious and life-threatening disorder.  With VA reports finding veteran suicide rates ranging from 18 - 22 per day, it's critical to take action.  THE WHITE CHAIR highlights the impact that PTSD has on our veterans and the importance of encouraging conversation and reducing the stigma around mental health.

What is happening with this film?

We are seeking funding to produce THE WHITE CHAIR.

Levi Holiman (writer, director and producer) has spent the last two years developing THE WHITE CHAIR script with a group of Iraqi (OIF) War Veterans. The integrity of these veterans stories' and the authenticity of their experience is of utmost importance in the development of this film.  We are also fortunate to have the endorsement of Colonel Ralph L. Kauzlarich, U.S. Army (retired) former commander of 2nd Battalion, 16th infantry regiment, who has also signed onto the project as our key military advisor.  "Colonel K" also advised David Finkel on his books "The Good Soldier" and "Thank you for your service".

With a proven track record of creating award-winning feature films, Levi will ensure this project is completed with the highest quality.  If you are interested in joining us on the journey, please contact us.
